How Liberal Media Use Polls as Weapons

To hear the major media tell it, this year’s election is already over, with Barack Obama the landslide winner.

Given the economic meltdown unfolding since September, the unpopularity of the Bush White House and Obama’s huge financial edge over John McCain, some such result might be expected.  Even more to the point, it’s been relentlessly foretold by poll surveys appearing in the Washington Post, New York Times, and other media outlets with the same agenda.

Secret Service says “Kill him” allegation unfounded

October 16th, 2008

SCRANTON – The agent in charge of the Secret Service field office in Scranton said allegations that someone yelled “kill him” when presidential hopeful Barack Obama’s name was mentioned during Tuesday’s Sarah Palin rally are unfounded.

The Scranton Times-Tribune first reported the alleged incident on its Web site Tuesday and then again in its print edition Wednesday. The first story, written by reporter David Singleton, appeared with allegations that while congressional candidate Chris Hackett was addressing the crowd and mentioned Oabama’s name a man in the audience shouted “kill him.”

News organizations including ABC, The Associated Press, The Washington Monthly and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann reported the claim, with most attributing the allegations to the Times-Tribune story.

GOP labeled ‘foolish’ for permitting liberal debate moderators

October 7th, 2008

Well-known conservative activist Richard Viguerie is bashing the Republican Party and the McCain campaign for agreeing to participate in debates moderated by “liberal establishment” journalists.

The choice of Gwen Ifill to moderate the vice-presidential debate sparked an uproar last week among some conservatives, who argued the PBS anchor should have recused herself from the debate because she is scheduled to release a book on Inauguration Day that praises Barack Obama. The final two presidential debates will be moderated by Tom Brokaw of NBC (tonight) and Bob Schieffer of CBS (October 15).

Media Bias: It’s worth noting when someone as distinguished as actor Jon Voight directly warned media Saturday to quit lying in this election, if only for the sake of democracy. But lying is exactly what’s been stepped up.

The latest manifestation of media bias was a bizarre Associated Press “analysis” claiming racism in Sarah Palin’s warning over the weekend about Barack Obama’s long association with Bill Ayers, founder of the Weather Underground terror organization.

UCLA Study Confirms Media Bias

October 6th, 2008

While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper’s news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.

These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.

Media is like Propaganda Machine

October 5th, 2008

I have just about had it with the conservative punditry and their plaintive wailings about the unfairness of the self-proclaimed “mainstream media” (I think the designation “Big Media” would be more appropriate as applied to the information service of the leftist elites, which is anything but mainstream).

“Where is the outrage?”  ”Why does the mainstream media concentrate exclusively on the failings of the right while completely ignoring the failings of the left?” “Why does the mainstream media worship at the temple of Barack Obama while brutally savaging Sarah Palin?” pitifully lament conservatives.

Mainstream Media Provides Talking Points to Arab Countries

October 4th, 2008

Worldnetdaily Exclusive

An expert on terrorism is warning the United States should be fighting Islamization, which she believes already is under way. And author Brigitte Gabriel should know: She watched it happen in her native Lebanon.

“Lebanon used to be the only majority Christian country in the Middle East,” Gabriel told radio talk show host Andrea Shea King in a recent hour-long interview “Most people today do not know that. We were the majority, the Muslims were the minority, but as the years went by, the Muslims became the majority because of their birth rate, but also because of our open-border policy.

Palin Exposes Liberals in Media

October 4th, 2008

Greg Sheridan, Foreign editor, The Austrailian October 04, 2008

SARAH Palin, the pitbull in lipstick, the hockey mum from Main Street, did brilliantly well in her debate with Joe Biden yesterday. It was a good illustration of one of the iron laws of politics.

Whenever you hear commentators declare that a senior politician is as thick as a brick or an idiot, it is much likelier that the commentator is the idiot and the politician has simply offended some orthodoxy of the zeitgeist.

But first the debate in its own terms. Palin brought to John McCain’s campaign a burst of energy, enthusiasm from the Republican base, a pizazz of new celebrity, a reinforcement of his message of reform of government. Biden brought to Barack Obama’s ticket a reassuring sense of experience, a “grey beard”, a wise man of Washington, the gravitas to balance Obama’s lack of experience in foreign policy.

BLANKLEY: Media covering for Obama

September 25th, 2008

The mainstream media have gone over the line and are now straight out propagandists for the Obama campaign. While they have been liberal and blinkered in their worldview for decades, in 2007-08 for the first time, the major media are consciously covering for one candidate for president and consciously knifing the other. This is no longer journalism — it is simply propaganda.
